Lori Perez Real Estate — A Personal Letter from Lori

However you found your way here, whether a friend or attorney passed along my name, you searched late at night, or you just had a feeling you needed someone different, I'm glad you did.

I'm Lori Perez. I grew up in Des Moines, Iowa as the daughter of a builder, contractor and landlord, so houses have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I'm also a child of divorce. I learned early what it means when a family's home changes hands.

I didn't come to real estate in a straight line. I spent a few years teaching in the public schools, then 22 years homeschooling my own girls. When life shifted, overnight, as it sometimes does, I had to start over. With no business experience I started a company, cleaning daycares by night and learning real estate by day, and I was fortunate to have wonderful teachers placed in my path. Years later, I earned my broker's license, bought a franchise, sold it, and opened my own independent boutique brokerage, Lori Perez Real Estate.

I tell you all of this because I know what it feels like when the ground moves under your feet, as a child and as an adult. That's why I became a Certified Divorce Real Estate Expert™ (CDRE™). When a home has to be sold or divided in a divorce, you need someone who understands the legal, financial and emotional pieces, and who can work with attorneys, mediators and financial professionals so you aren't left holding it all yourself.
